SCHEME AND SYLLABUS

SELECTION PROCESS:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
  2. Written Main Examination (Subjective Type)
  3. Viva-Voce (Personal Interview)

Exam Pattern: The Exam Pattern will be as follows:

PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION

  • The Exam will be Objective Type.
    • The time Duration for the Examination will be 2 Hours.
    • The Exam shall be of 100 marks in aggregate.
    • There shall be negative marking of -1 mark (minus one) for each wrong answer.

SYLLABUS FOR THE PRELIMINARY EXAM SHALL CONSIST OF

  • General English
  • General Knowledge (including Current Affairs)
  • The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.
  • The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
  • The Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
  • The Law of Contract, 1872.
  • The Indian Penal Code, 1860.

MAIN EXAMINATION

  • Main examination will comprise four question paper.
  • Duration of Main Examination shall be of three hours for each paper.
  • Each question paper will carry 100 marks

Paper -I

  • The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
  • The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
  • The Indian Penal Code, 1860.
  • The Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
  • The Limitation Act, 1963.

Paper -II

  • The Contract Act, 1872
  • The Sales of Goods Act, 1930
  • The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881
  • The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996
  • The Transfer of Property Act, 1882

Paper -III

  • Hindu Law
  • Mohammedan Law
  • Jharkhand Rent Control Law.
  • The Specific Relief Act, 1963
  • Jurisprudence

Paper IV

  • (Language) Hindi & English (Essay, Precise writing, Translation & Paraphrase)

VIVA-VOCE(INTERVIEW)

  • Personal interview test will carry 100 marks.
  • Jharkhand Civil Services (Judicial) Eligibility Criteria:-
  • An applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • He must have completed the bachelor level law degree from a recognized institute.
  • The age of the applicants must not exceed 22 years.
  • The maximum age of the candidates must not be more than 35 years.
  • The candidates of the reserved category will be given the appropriate relaxation in their upper age.
  • The relaxation in the upper age for the candidates of the SC and ST category will be 5 years.
  • Candidates of the OBC category will be offered the age relaxation of 3 years.
